In spite of all this, Dushyant, who turns 30 on April 3 this year, has faced his own set of challenges, personal and political, during his first term as MP. JJP bettered INLD in the recent Jind assembly bypoll: Digvijay was second, INLD-BSP nominee could not save his security deposit. The duo and father Ajay formed the Jananayak Janata Party (JJP) on December 9. When party supremo O P Chautala was speaking at the gathering, young party workers shouted slogans in Dushyant’s favour, and this later led to his and brother Digivay’s expulsion. This came to a pass at INLD’s Gohana rally on October 7 last year.

HISAR: Hisar MP Dushyant Chautala’s family has a rich political legacy — his great grandfather Devi Lal served as the deputy PM in 1990-1991, grandfather Om Prakash Chautala is a four-time CM of Haryana, and father Ajay Chautala has been Bhiwani MP from 1999 to 2014.So, it was no surprise when Dushyant was elected the youngest-ever MP of India in 2014, at the age of 25. In spite of all this, Dushyant, who turns 30 on April 3 this year, has faced his own set of challenges, personal and political, during his first term as MP. When Dushyant contested the election from Hisar, his father and grandfather were serving a 10-year jail term in Tihar jail after being convicted in the JBT teacher recruitment scam.At the time, Dushyant beat Kuldeep Bishnoi of the HJC-BJP alliance by 31,847 votes. The Modi wave, which saw BJP winning seven of the 10 seats in Haryana, could not defeat the MP and this victory pitch-forked him to the centre of INLD politics, with his popularity rising a mong youngersters in the party. In Parliament, Dushyant has been vocal. He took part in 242 debates and asked 676 questions till the winter session, the highest by an MP from Haryana.Dushyant’s mother, Dabwali MLA Naina Chautala, has said his popularity did not go down well with uncle Abhay Chautala, and he’d often refuse permission to the MP for party events. This came to a pass at INLD’s Gohana rally on October 7 last year. When party supremo O P Chautala was speaking at the gathering, young party workers shouted slogans in Dushyant’s favour, and this later led to his and brother Digivay’s expulsion. The duo and father Ajay formed the Jananayak Janata Party (JJP) on December 9. JJP bettered INLD in the recent Jind assembly bypoll: Digvijay was second, INLD-BSP nominee could not save his security deposit. This led to Mayawati breaking BSP’s tie-up with INLD.
