Three flyovers after toll plaza, but no streetlights

However NHAI Jaipur officials told TOI that the department will float a tender to hire a concessionaire to look after the maintenance of the stretch.According to residents of new sectors in Gurugram, the three flyovers — Shikhopur, Rampura and IMT Manesar — turn pitch dark after sunset as there are no streetlights on the nearly 16 km stretch. Richa Chawla, a resident of Royal Ville in Sector 82 said, “It’s very difficult and scary to commute on this stretch late evening, especially after crossing the Kherki Daula toll plaza. Both the highway and the service lanes lack streetlights. Are we paying the toll tax every day for such pathetic and insecure services from operator?”The residents in a joint letter to NHAI Jaipur on January 21 informed the officials about the difficulties being faced by them while commuting on the stretch. “ In a reply, NHAI informed us that a a tender was floated on February 2 for a concessionaire to carry out the maintenance the highway between Haryana and Rajasthan. As the bidders didn’t qualify during technical evaluation, a fresh tender would be floated on March 2. After finalisation of the bids, maintenance work will be taken up on top most priority by the concessionaire,” said Ashok Kumar Mittal, a resident of Sector 90.When contacted, a senior NHAI Jaipur official said, “We have issued a new tender for the concessionaire. We have been facing several issues due to apathy of the present concessionaire — Pink City Expressway Limited. A few of them were also highlighted by the residents like no streetlights. We have informed the headquarters and soon will appoint a new concessionaire to look after the maintenance issues.
