MCG then looked for private land but no one was ready to provide land for a slaughterhouse due to social and religious concerns. The main aim of the empanelment, according to officials, was to ensure that there is no slaughtering within city limits. The proposal was tabled in the MCG House in November 2018 and was passed since it did not require any financial approval from the state government.According to sources, the project seems unviable as most meat-sellers are small-scale businessman who will not want to pay additional transportation costs and given that meat is a perishable item, it might be damaged in transit.
