Manoj Yadava takes over as new Haryana DGP

CHANDIGARH: Manoj Yadava, IPS officer of 1988 batch, assumed the charge as DGP, Haryana, on Thursday at the state police headquarters in Panchkula. “There have been lot of initiatives that have been undertaken by Haryana police in the past, which are extremely laudable. He has served as ASP Hansi, Sirsa, Ambala, Additional SP Rohtak, SP (security, traffic and crime) UT, Chandigarh. Police will take all necessary steps in this direction,” he stated.On being asked to comment on efficiency of the state intelligence, the DGP said that the intelligence wing of the Haryana Police was one of the best in the country. He has also authored a book titled “History of Haryana Police”, which was released by former deputy Prime Minister and home minister L K Advani in 2002.

Before taking charge as DGP, Manoj took the guard of honour.The newly appointed DGP while interacting with mediapersons said that maintaining law and order, effective prevention and detection of crime, better investigation, providing safe and secure environment to women and also to weaker sections of society would be among his top priorities. He mentioned that general parliamentary elections were round the corner and he would ensure all necessary possible arrangements for free, fair and peaceful elections in the state.Describing Haryana police as one of the best police force, Yadava said that it was an honour for him to serve as DGP of the state and recalled the time when he had started his career in the state police. “There have been lot of initiatives that have been undertaken by Haryana police in the past, which are extremely laudable. We will further try our best with the help of people to strengthen them besides initiating new ones,” he maintained.In reply to a question, the DGP said that, “Haryana is my home and he has remained in touch with the state. While being on deputation at the Centre, I have been in touch with senior functionaries of the state police force,” he added.When asked about the police arrangements in the light of recent terrorist incident in Pulwama , he said that terrorism does not limit to any border or jurisdiction. “We are fully geared up and emphasis will be given on capacity building in police force. STF has already been set up headed by an IGP-level officer. Proposal for setting up an anti-terrorism squad and quick response teams is under active consideration of the state government. Police will take all necessary steps in this direction,” he stated.On being asked to comment on efficiency of the state intelligence, the DGP said that the intelligence wing of the Haryana Police was one of the best in the country. “To have better coordination with the central intelligence agencies will also be our priority,” he said.Manoj Yadava, a 1988 batch IPS officer from Aligarh in UP was born in 1965 and has done his masters in economics and MBA from Aligarh Muslim University . He has served as ASP Hansi, Sirsa, Ambala, Additional SP Rohtak, SP (security, traffic and crime) UT, Chandigarh. Before going on central deputation, he also served as SP Fatehabad, Panipat , Panchkula and Ambala. Apart from this, he has also served as contingent commander, Indian Civil Police Contingent to UN Mission in Kosovo.Yadava was also awarded the UN peace-keeping medal in recognition of efforts towards setting up the fledgling Kosovo police service. Apart from this, he has also been decorated with the Indian police medal for meritorious service, President’s Police Medal for distinguished services, police hard duty medal with bar and seven commendation certificates from IB. He has also authored a book titled “History of Haryana Police”, which was released by former deputy Prime Minister and home minister L K Advani in 2002.
