Gurugram topped Haryana accident death graph in 2018

According to the data, a total of 20,570 people lost lives on Haryana roads from 2015 till January 31, 2019. CHANDIGARH: Around 426 persons were killed every month in 2018 in Haryana in road accidents. While the highest number of 446 people were killed in Gurugram district, Sonepat district remained at number two with 432 deaths in 2018. Even in January 2019, as many as 429 persons have lost their lives in road mishaps. Kadyan also referred to five deaths that had taken place on Wednesday in Jhajjar district in a road accident.

CHANDIGARH: Around 426 persons were killed every month in 2018 in Haryana in road accidents. Even in January 2019, as many as 429 persons have lost their lives in road mishaps. While the highest number of 446 people were killed in Gurugram district, Sonepat district remained at number two with 432 deaths in 2018. Karnal, another city located on GT road, witnessed 353 deaths in 2018.Even in January this year, the highest number of 49 persons were killed in Gurgaon, 36 in Sonepat and 29 in Jhajjar. A data in this regard was placed before the Haryana state assembly on Thursday by Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar in response to a question asked by Jagbir Singh Malik, Congress MLA from Gohana. According to the data, a total of 20,570 people lost lives on Haryana roads from 2015 till January 31, 2019. This came to be around 420 deaths every month in the past 49 months.According to the Haryana CM, there was a marginal increase in deaths in 2016 and 2017 while there was a small decline in 2018 in the death count due to road accidents. The data further revealed that a total of 4,879 people lost their lives in 2015, the number reached 5,024 in 2016 and 5,120 in 2017. However, 2018 witnessed a negligible decrease with 5,118. In 2019, till January 31, 429 people have already lost their lives.Terming the increase of road accidents as alarming, Congress legislator from Beri Raghubir Kadyan and Jhajjar MLA Geeta Bhukal on Thursday demanded calling attention motion to discuss the issue. Kadyan also referred to five deaths that had taken place on Wednesday in Jhajjar district in a road accident.
