Youth rapes 14-year-old neighbour, nabbed

GURUGRAM: A 19-year-old youth was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly raping his 14-year-old neighbour in Naharpur Rupa area.Identified as Dinesh, the accused was produced in a city court on Wednesday and sent to 14-day judicial custody . A case was registered at women police station in Sector 51 and the accused was detained. The girl’s brother immediately informed his father, who works as a labourer. He was later sent to a correction home in Faridabad. The girl was alone at home when the accused lured her to his house on the pretext of some work and raped her.On March 16, an eight-year-old girl was molested and sexually assaulted by a 17-year-old boy in Sector 52.

According to the police, Dinesh had visited the girl’s house on around 2pm Friday and on finding her alone, forced himself on her and raped her.“He allegedly covered the girl’s face with a pillow to prevent her from screaming,” an officer said.However, the girl’s brother — who was out for work — returned home to collect something when he saw Dinesh fleeing. The girl’s brother immediately informed his father, who works as a labourer. When the father returned home, the 14-year-old girl revealed her ordeal.On Saturday, the girl, along with her father, approached the police and filed a complaint against Dinesh.An FIR was registered against Dinesh under Section 6 of the POCSO Act at the Manesar police station on Saturday and a manhunt was launched to nab him. Neighbours and locals too joined the girl’s family to look for Dinesh but as he had not returned home since Friday, they were left clueless.However, police got a tip-off that Dinesh had been seen in the neighbourhood, where he was later arrested on Tuesday.“He was produced in a city court on Wednesday and sent to judicial custody,” said an officer stationed at Manesar police station.This is the third incident reported in the city in the last four days when minors were assaulted and raped by their neighbours.On March 17, a 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her 21-year-old neighbour, a daily wager, in a slum in Fazilpur on Southern Peripheral Road. The girl was alone at home when the accused lured her to his house on the pretext of some work and raped her.On March 16, an eight-year-old girl was molested and sexually assaulted by a 17-year-old boy in Sector 52. A case was registered at women police station in Sector 51 and the accused was detained. He was later sent to a correction home in Faridabad.
