One arrested for growing 302 poppy plants in Ambala house

The cops received a tip-off about poppy plants being cultivated and raided the spot and found 302 fully grown poppy plants.The accused has been identified as Balbir Singh. During the raid, the team found poppy plants. Upon counting, 302 plants were found and they were uprooted and taken into the custody. AMBALA: The Naggal police have booked a resident of village Jandheri for allegedly planting poppy at his property in his village. "Deputy superintendent of police, headquarter, Ambala Sultan Singh, said, "I visited the spot along with the teams and recovered 302 poppy plants weighing 8.5 kg from the property of the accused who was arrested on Wednesday in the night.

AMBALA: The Naggal police have booked a resident of village Jandheri for allegedly planting poppy at his property in his village. The cops received a tip-off about poppy plants being cultivated and raided the spot and found 302 fully grown poppy plants.The accused has been identified as Balbir Singh. He has been booked for planting poppy at his property without any permit or licence. During inspection by the district police, it has been found that the accused had marked cuts on the buds of the poppy flower to extract fresh opium from the plants.On Wednesday, on the complaint of a police official, a case under sections 18/61/85 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the accused Balbir at Naggal police station.The police official stated in his FIR, "We received a tip-off that the accused Balbir has planted poppy behind a wall of bricks without any permission at his property in village Jandheri. Acting on the tip-off, the senior officials were informed and all the relevant due procedures were followed to conduct a raid at the property concerned. During the raid, the team found poppy plants. Upon counting, 302 plants were found and they were uprooted and taken into the custody. The total weight of the plants is 8.5 kg. The accused could not present any relevant document, following which he was taken into custody. The accused had also marked cuts on the flower buds of poppy to extract opium from them."Deputy superintendent of police, headquarter, Ambala Sultan Singh, said, "I visited the spot along with the teams and recovered 302 poppy plants weighing 8.5 kg from the property of the accused who was arrested on Wednesday in the night. On Thursday, he was presented before the court, which has sent him on judicial custody for 14 days. After registering a case under relevant sections of law, further investigation is being done."
