Two murdered in Panipat on Holi

With multiple stab wounds, Hemant, a resident of Imamwada Colony, was found lying on a road.

CHANDIGARH: The festival of colours turned out to be a sad occasion in Panipat where two youths were brutally murdered following arguments during Holi revelry.In the first case, a group of youths clashed in Pawanti village of Samalkha sub-division resulting in the murder of a youth studying in Delhi and serious stab injuries to his brother.Police said that the victim, identified as Ravi Kumar of Pawanti village, and his brother Rinku were celebrating with their family in the village. At that time a group of youths attacked Rinku with sharp-edged weapons over an one-and-a-half-year old incident.Rinku told police that Raj Kumar’s son Ravi, Parveen, Vijay Pal, Mandeep and Krishan came there with swords and attacked his brother Ravi. He made an attempt to save Ravi and suffered stabbed injures. The two brothers were rushed to the civil hospital but Ravi had died by then.Police force have been deployed in the village and the victim would be cremated on Friday.In the second incident, a 19-year-old youth was stabbed to death by his friend following the brawl during Holi celebrations at Khateek Mohalla of Panipat on Thursday afternoon. With multiple stab wounds, Hemant, a resident of Imamwada Colony, was found lying on a road. He was taken to a private hospital. As his condition was serious he was rushed to Bhagat Phool Singh PGI in Khanpur village in Sonipat , where he was declared brought dead.Police said that acting upon the information from PGI, a team from Chandni Bagh police station reached the hospital.In his statement to police, Hemant’s father Anil said his son’s friend Anurag had come to his house to pick him up for the Holi celebrations. After an hour, he got the call from some stranger who noticed Hemant lying on the road.Hemant had told the strangers about the attack by Anurag with a knife as he had refused to attend some function following an arguments. The victim, identified as Himashu Kumar, tried to make a foiled attempt of brokering peace between two groups who clashed with each other while celebrating Holi.Himashu was visiting his maternal uncle’s house. “While he was speaking to somebody over phone, he heard the noise of fight outside the house and saw two groups clashing. While he was trying to broker peace, somebody shot him in the head, leaving him unconscious in the pool of blood. After first aid at the civil hospital, he was rushed to multispeciality hospital for treatment,” police said.Police have booked four persons in a case of attempt to murder registered at Chandni Bag police station.
