Village panchayat peace committees asked to resolve shrine dispute in Kaithal

KAITHAL: As per the information, the district administration has instructed the social organisations and panchayats of several villages to form a peace committee to resolve the shrines related dispute of two communities which clashed at village Badsui in district Kaithal on Friday. The force is not obstructing any traffic but it is keeping a vigil eye on the situation in the village. "Some villagers requesting anonymity said, “The temple and gurdwara are constructed at a common land belonging to our village. I offer condolences to the family members of the deceased person who has lost his life in the clash. Police said the clash took place due to ongoing dispute over the land shared by two shrines and ‘local electoral politics’.On Friday, in the clash Shamsher Singh (50) of village Badsui was killed while nearly 15 of both the communities received injuries.

KAITHAL: As per the information, the district administration has instructed the social organisations and panchayats of several villages to form a peace committee to resolve the shrines related dispute of two communities which clashed at village Badsui in district Kaithal on Friday. Police said the clash took place due to ongoing dispute over the land shared by two shrines and ‘local electoral politics’.On Friday, in the clash Shamsher Singh (50) of village Badsui was killed while nearly 15 of both the communities received injuries. The injured have been undergoing treatments at Civil Hospital in Kaithal and Rajendra Hospital in Patiala and their condition is said to be out of danger.Rajinder Singh, Panch from village Badsui informed that, “The clash took place over the division of land between two shrines managed separately by the committees of both the communities. The same issue had cropped up nearly one and a half years ago but it was not addressed properly.”Kurukshetra MP Raj Kumar Saini had approved an amount of Rs 5 lakh from his MP-LAD funds for development of passage in the village Badsui, which was misused by the villagers for construction of the wall to separate two shrines. In Ambala during his party meeting, on Saturday, when questioned about the MP-LAD funds of Rs 5 lakh to village Badsui, MP Saini told TOI, "I had approved the funds for construction of passage but it is a matter of investigation that where the funds have been utilised. I offer condolences to the family members of the deceased person who has lost his life in the clash."Some villagers requesting anonymity said, “The temple and gurdwara are constructed at a common land belonging to our village. On Thursday, the temple committee dug up the land to construct a boundary wall between the two shrines whereas the gurdwara committee objected to the unilateral demarcation of land, and they were attacked by the other party. Both the groups clashed and Shamsher received serious injury on his head and later died at Rajendra Hospital in Patiala.”As per sources, there are seven passages which lead to village Badsui and the district police have deployed force on all the seven entries to the village. The force is not obstructing any traffic but it is keeping a vigil eye on the situation in the village.
