Rain likely today in Gurugram, to bring down mercury

  • | Monday | 25th March, 2019

During the first two weeks of March, the city witnessed three western disturbances due to which initial days of the month were also relatively cooler. Meanwhile, mercury in Gurugram climbed to 31°C with humidity staying close to 70 per cent.A Met official explained, “Whenever WD approaches, the flow of cold north-westerly air stops, giving way to warm south-easterly winds from Rajasthan. This, coupled with cloud covers, allows the solar radiations to pass on the earth during the day and stops from returning during the night. “AQI may slowly build up and is predicted to remain in the ‘moderate’ category until Monday,” said SAFAR Officials said that last month was the coldest February in seven years as the city witnessed seven back to back western disturbances. The AQI was recorded at 112 (‘Moderate’) in the city, 140 (‘Moderate’) in Ghaziabad, 125 (‘Moderate’) in Greater Noida, 204 (‘Poor’) in Faridabad, 121 (‘Moderate’) in Noida and New Delhi.SAFAR, a body under the ministry of earth sciences, said high wind speeds were likely to keep Delhi’s air quality in a similar range.
