Injured in accident, constable keeps wedding date

HISAR: Two Haryana police constables, Ravi Kumar and Neelam Rani, got married at a Hisar hospital on Wednesday after a serious accident, four days ago, almost jeopardised their wedding plans.The wedding of Ravi (29) and Neelam (27), posted at police stations in Sirsa and Hansi, respectively, was fixed for March 27, but Neelam got seriously injured in a road accident four days ago. She was distributing wedding invitations to family and friends in Hisar with Ravi on March 23.Neelam was injured on her way home when Ravi’s motorcycle slipped near Dhanni Mohabbatpur village, where her family lives, and she was admitted to a private hospital in Hisar.Her hospitalisation made impossible for the marriage ceremony to go ahead as planned. In such a situation, doctors at the hospital refused to discharge her for the wedding.With both the families keen to solemnise the wedding on Wednesday, they met the hospital administration and managed to get their permission to perform the wedding ceremony in the hospital itself, Neelam’s uncles Ashok and Ramkishan revealed.Neelam was dressed in bridal finery as she sat on a wheelchair, while Ravi performed the ceremony by pushing the wheelchair around the fire for the pheras to take the marriage vows.
