GURUGRAM: The gang of nine robbers busted in the city on Monday worked as daily wagers and scrap dealers during the daytime and committed robberies at night, police investigation has revealed. The gang used to strike only after observing all security arrangements at the target well in advance,” said inspector Ajay Kumar, head of Bilaspur crime unit. The accused were arrested by the Bilaspur crime unit in Hayatpur on Monday following an investigation, and a local court had sent them to three day’s police remand for questioning. They would recce an industrial area, assessing buildings and the security measures adopted by factories — the entry/exit points, number of guards deputed, whether the guards were armed, and the number and placement of CCTV cameras — and would strike at night.“We have made a major recovery of the stolen goods from them. On Thursday, they were again produced in court, which sent them to judicial custody.Following the arrests, police recovered 764 car batteries, four inverter batteries, two computers, one printer and one pickup van from their possession.During interrogation, the accused confessed to their involvement in 11 cases of theft and robbery across the city, including IMT Manesar, Sector 10 and Farrukhnagar.A senior police officer said the accused would often drive around in the stolen van.

They had been active in the IMT Manesar area for around a year and were involved in as many as 11 robberies at industrial units and some houses, police said.The gang members — Prem Chand (33), Kuldeep (31), Attar Hussain alias Chhote (21), Irfan alias Guddu (22), Irshad (24), Afsaar (30), Sandeep (22), Azaz (23) and Prem Kumar (35), all residents of UP — lived in rented accommodations in Hayatpur village, Sector 10.On the night of March 21 (Thursday), they had barged into the premises of Om Sai Power Technology, a battery manufacturing unit in Sector 4, IMT Manesar, and fled with 800 car batteries after holding the factory’s security guards hostage at gunpoint.An FIR had been registered under sections 395 (dacoity) and 397 (robbery) of IPC at Manesar police station.
