Gurgaon: With the mercury rising steadily and the demand for electricity increasing every day, frequent power cuts in parts of the city have left the residents fuming. On Saturday, the power demand in the city soared to 194 lakh units a day.Residents of Sushant Lok and DLF, areasangry over power outages, reached out to junior engineers and sub-divisional officers seeking restoration of supply. Several residents sent texts and called TOI to complain about voltage fluctuations.Gurgaon recorded a maximum temperature of 37 degrees Celsius on Saturday and officials from the Met department said it will go up to 40 degrees Celsius in the first week of April. The city, which has around 900 feeders across Circle 1 (Old Gurgaon) and Circle 2 (New Gurgaon), has about five lakh consumers with DHBVN adding 20,000 every year. Mayank Gupta, a resident of C Block, Sushant Lok 2, said, “During the night, there was no supply and then in the morning, we faced three hours of outage .” Residents of Sushant Lok 1 said there were intermittent power cuts throughout the day.DHBVN officials told TOI there was a power supply failure from the 66kV power substation in Q Block, Sector 56. “The supply was restored within an hour,” an official said. “Also, a 200kV transformer was damaged in DLF 3.”
