CHANDIGARH: Dismissed BSF constable Tej Bahadur Yadav, who came to limelight after posting online a video about poor quality food being serve to the security forces personnel, has announced that he would contest Lok Sabha polls against Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh While talking to media, Bahadur, a native of Rewari in Haryana , said he wanted to contest the elections to eliminate corruption in the armed forces.“After Modi came into power, I made an attempt to expose corruption but I was dismissed from the forces. Now, I would be approaching to public to eradicate corruption. I am hopeful that public would support me,” said Yadav on Saturday, in an update on his social media page.In a similar update, Yadav has written, “I realized that only Varanasi would be appropriate for me to contest the parliamentary polls because I could not find any other candidate against whom I should contest the election.”A native of Rata Kalan village in Rewari, Tej Bahadur in January 2017 shared a video on social media about poor quality food served to BSF troopers. Around 90 lakh people had watched the video and around 4.4 lakh had shared it on social media within three days of its release. On April 19, 2017, he was sacked from the BSF and was also denied pension.Aggrieved from his dismissal, Bahadur had filed a petition before the Punjab and Haryana high court seeking reinstatement of his pension. His plea is still pending before the HC.Yadav has recently lost his son Rohit, 22, due to accidental fire from his licensed pistol.
