GURUGRAM: A legal notice has been sent to the forest department by Colonel (retired) S S Oberoi, a city-based environment activist and legal expert, after the department denied response to an RTI application seeking information on transfer of 1,000 acres of land in the Aravalis for Haryana government’s Global City project near Sector 36B.The RTI application, a copy of which is with TOI, sought information on — if the land earmarked for the project requires any no objection certificate (NOC) for construction of the Global City; if the land falls under Aravali notification or PLPA; if there is any water body in the earmarked area; if there is presence of wildlife in the area; and if the area falls in eco-sensitive zone; if any green cover is proposed on the project land; and land records of the area.The RTI response, a copy of which is also with TOI, denied the information saying, “As per Section 2(f) of RTI Act 2005, information means any material in any form, including mails, opinions, advices, press releases, circulars, reports, papers... in any electronic authority under any other law for the time being in force.
