More than 80 illegal farmhouses, being developed in two colonies of 30-acre each, were demolished in Kiranki village, near Westin Sohna resort, in Sohna on Monday.

The enforcement wing of town and country planning, which received complaints against the farmhouses being carved out illegally on agricultural land two days back, razed the farmhouses and road network using five earthmovers in presence of police force.

Assistant town planner Ashish Sharma said on the basis of complaints, regarding illegal farmhouse colonies, along with his team visited the site and after inspection found that in the first colony around 40 farmhouses were being developed on the land.

“The developer had constructed the road network while the boundary wall was under construction,” he said.

He said there was no permission from the concerned authorities for developing farmhouses and it was a violation of the Act.

District town planner (enforcement) RS Batth said the road network as well as boundary walls was demolished. Another colony, also on 30-acre land, was being developed around one kilometre away from the first colony, around 15 farmhouses boundary walls were already constructed.

The developer had also installed solar streetlights, he said.

Most of the boundary walls were razed, road network damaged in presence of 150 policemen.

As per the norms, the farmhouse colony can be developed on 25 acre land after change in land use permission and licence from the town and country planning department.
