RWAs allege political interference in registrar office work, protest

GURGAON: Alleging political interference in the functioning of state registrar and district registrar, representatives of several RWAs on Sunday took out a protest march demanding direct intervention of the chief minister in the matter.The protesters gathered at John Hall in Civil Lines and marched towards deputy commissioner Nishant Yadavs residence. Representatives of Gurgaon Greens, Oyster Grande, Hermitage, Vedanta, Palam Vihar, Triumph, Centrum Park, Suncity Avenue, Grand Iva, Conscient One joined the march and submitted a memorandum.Their demands include, no political interference in the functioning of registrar offices, stringent measures should be taken to eradicate corruption and eliminate middlemen, Haryana Registration & Regulation of Societies (HRRS) Act, 2012, should be amended to expedite the adjudication of petitions and establish accountability for officers.Hari Bhagwan, RWA president of Oyster Grande, said, We have a registered RWA since 2019, but a couple of weeks ago, the district registrar approved the formation of another RWA comprising only three towers of the project. How can they allow two RWAs in one licensee project? We strongly believe that this cannot be done without any political interference.Echoing the similar sentiments, Pradeep Parashar, a resident of Heartsong, said there has been no election in the society for the last five years. The office of district registrar has become a den of corruption. No work gets done without middlemen. Officials are deciding petitions arbitrarily and beyond the scope of the HRRS Act. If the government fails to resolve these issues, people will again organise such protests on a larger scale, said Sandeep Fogat, RWA president of Gurgaon Greens.Deputy commissioner Nishant Yadav said, I have received the memorandum and will get their complaint checked.
