Rare heart surgery performed by Gurugram doctor

GURUGRAM: A rare cardiac surgery was performed on a 26-year-old patient in the city. The flow of blood in the patient's aorta tube, which is the main blood supplier to the body, was stretched to the maximum. The doctors also investigated that the valve in the heart was diseased, causing stenosis and regurgitation of blood i.e. It also involves the artificial replacement of the Aortic valves that ensure the one-way flow of blood from the heart to the body.

GURUGRAM: A rare cardiac surgery was performed on a 26-year-old patient in the city. The doctors also corrected defects to ensure that the blood flowing through this main artery remain unhampered.Patient Mohan Mehta experience sudden breathlessness, palpitation and chest discomfort following which he rushed to the hospital.Doctors from the cardiac Surgery department in Paras Hospital diagnosed that the patient's heart was four times the size of a normal one. The doctors also investigated that the valve in the heart was diseased, causing stenosis and regurgitation of blood i.e. the blood flowing back to the heart). It also caused an enlargement of the size of his heart. Due to this, the heart's functioning reduced to only 25 per cent. As a result, the patient required a heart transplant."If the patient had waited another few months, there would have been no solution to his complication. The flow of blood in the patient's aorta tube, which is the main blood supplier to the body, was stretched to the maximum. Rupturing of this would have lead to sudden death," said Dr Vishal Agarwal, HOD, cardiothoracic vascular surgery, Paras Hospital.Health experts claim that such a case is as rare as 1 in 10 lakh patient. A Bentall procedure was conducted on the patient considering his age and proper functioning of all other organs. The Bentall Procedure is an open-heart surgery that involves the use of an arterial tube graft to replace a part of the aorta. It also involves the artificial replacement of the Aortic valves that ensure the one-way flow of blood from the heart to the body. In addition, it reconnects the coronary arteries i.e. the small arteries that give blood to the heart, on the aorta.
