GURUGRAM: Haryana cabinet minister Rao Narbir Singh on Friday announced that Union transport minister Nitin Gadkari will be laying the foundation stone to kick off work on a 22.5km elevated road on the Gurgaon-Alwar highway, connecting Rajiv Chowk with Sohna The project is likely to cost the government around Rs 1,385 crore. "I have already spoken to the Union minister and sought his approval for the project. The tenders for the project have been floated," Singh said ."The plan is to make the elevated road on single poles, which would also make six lanes available for traffic movement, beneath the elevated highway, " Singh said.TOI had earlier reported that the length of the proposed elevated road on the Gurgaon-Alwar highway was extended by 6 km all the way up to Sohna. The elavated corridor will now start at Rajiv Chowk on NH-8 and help commuters reach Sohna, which is about 23km away, in much lesser time than they do now. The changes were made following a recent order by the Union ministry of road transport and highways. According to the previous plan, the elevated stretch was 16.5 km and was only till Alipur near Bhondsi.
