Ryan murder: CBI suspect sent back to juvenile home, police suspect out of jail

The CBI also denied allegations levelled by the juvenile suspect's father, through an application on November 11, that the agency had violated rules laid down for interviewing a minor offender.The board had issued a notice to the CBI. He told the court the suspect had been allowed to meet parents on non-mandated days. "CBI maintained they have not violated the juvenile justice board's direction," said the suspect's counsel Sandeep Aneja.But he said the CBI had failed to elaborate on the specific time and date mentioned in his application highlighting the violations. Aneja will argue against the CBI's reply on November 29.Pradhyumn was attacked in the ground floor washroom of Ryan's Bhondsi campus on September 8.

GURUGRAM: The Class 11 student of Ryan International School detained by the CBI for the murder of Class 2 student Pradhyumn Thakur was on Wednesday sent back to a Faridabad observation home till December 6.The 16-year-old suspect was produced before the juvenile justice board after his specified detention period, which began on November 11, lapsed.The CBI also moved an application before the board, presided over by judicial magistrate (1st class) Devender Singh, for accessing fingerprints of the Class 11 student.The board asked the suspect's counsel to file a reply on the CBI's application and scheduled the next hearing for November 29.The same day, Ashok Kumar (42), the Ryan school bus conductor arrested as the prime suspect in the case when Gurgaon police was investigating the murder, walked out on bail from the district jail in Bhondsi after spending nearly two and a half months behind bars. Kumar got bail from a local court on Tuesday after the CBI said it had found no evidence against him.Sushil Tekriwal, counsel for Pradhyumn's father Barun, who had moved an application on November 14 to treat the Class 11 student as an adult because he was over 16 years of age at the time of the crime, was also present during the juvenile justice board hearing. He told the court the suspect had been allowed to meet parents on non-mandated days. "According to rule, the juvenile can meet parents and family members at the observation home only on Tuesday and Friday, but he was allowed to meet his parents on Monday as well," Tekriwal said.In its submissions before the board, CBI said it had identified and apprehended the suspect on the basis of minute inspection of the crime scene, analysis of CCTV footage and movement of students near the crime scene on the day of the murder (September 8), reconstruction of events and questioning of students, teachers, staff and other employees of the school. The CBI also denied allegations levelled by the juvenile suspect's father, through an application on November 11, that the agency had violated rules laid down for interviewing a minor offender.The board had issued a notice to the CBI.
