This malice should be dealt with firm hands,” Ajmal said.ASJU secretary Maulana Fazlul Karim Quasimi said that it is unfortunate that communal elements were trying to give a religious colour to rape.“By giving religious colour to a heinous crime like rape, communal forces are trying to polarize the society on communal lines and wedge a difference between communities. Even in social media we have come across such attempts of communal polarization on the issue of rape,” Quasimi said.Quasimi added that vest groups are also trying to reap benefits by politicizing the crime against women.“A rapist deserves the most stringent punishment irrespective of their religious affiliations. At the same time we have to keep in mind that India is a secular, multi-ethnic and multi-religion country. There should not be any attempt to use rape to divide people on communal lines,” Quasimi said.He added that rape incidents like in Kathua, Unnao or in Assam’s Batadroba are not good for the country.“As Indian we all should join hands to fight against this malice unitedly,” Quasimi said.
