CM Sonowal felicitates Hima, Dutee after national meetAssam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Saturday felicitated India's latest track sensation Hima Das and Odisha's Dutee Chand for their exceptional performances during the recently concluded 58th National Inter State Athletics Championships in the city. Hima, also known as the 'Dhing Express', won in the women's 400m event on Friday, thus securing her qualification for the Asian Games in Jakarta. She clocked 51.13 seconds, bettering the record time of 51.48 seconds set by Haryana's Nirmala Sheoran in 2016.

Hima, also known as the 'Dhing Express', won in the women's 400m event on Friday, thus securing her qualification for the Asian Games in Jakarta. She clocked 51.13 seconds, bettering the record time of 51.48 seconds set by Haryana's Nirmala Sheoran in 2016. The performance was also Hima's personal best as she beat her own record time of 51.32 seconds which had clocked at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games earlier this year."I'm happy with the results. It feels good to be appreciated. I will try to better my record during the junior championship which is scheduled to be held in Finland. After that, I will go to Ukraine before the Asian Games," Hima said after being felicitated by Sonowal. She also thanked the people of the state for their support. The Assam chief minister also felicitated Odisha sprinter Dutee Chand who has also performed brilliantly in the championship. In the women's 100m event, Dutee won gold, setting a new record by clocking 11.32 seconds. She bettered her own record time of 11.30 seconds which she had set in 2017.
