Assam cops quiz former railway employee for murders on train

GUWAHATI: Assam police on Thursday picked up a former railway employee from his house in Dibrugarh for questioning in connection with the murder of two women in two days in train toilets in Assam.The 58-year-old man, identified as Kanak Gogoi , had been in jail for allegedly murdering his wife Swapna Gogoi in a similar fashion in a train in August last year. He was arrested last year after his wife’s body was found in a train last year,” police said.Police have also picked up another man from Tinsukia as a suspect based on CCTV footages, but his identity has not been revealed yet by police.On Thursday, police also released sketch of a suspect based on the description given by mother of the first victim, 19-year-old student of Assam Agriculture University Radha, who was found with slit throat and semi-clad inside the toilet of the Dibrugarh-Rangiya Express at Simaluguri Junction in Sivasagar district Tuesday.Police have taken the service of expert sketch artist Debasish Banerjee from Kolkata in preparing sketch.In less than 24 hours, on Wednesday, a middle-aged woman, Lalima Debi, was found murdered in the toilet of Avadh Assam Express.
