GUWAHATI: The 20th edition of the annual techno-management festival of IIT-Guwahati will be held from August 30 to September 2. Organizers of the event, known as 'Techniche', said students from across the country will be participating in the programme this year."Techniche is a student-oriented festival which tries to promote technology in the northeast by organizing exciting events and competitions. Being one of the largest technical festivals in India, it brings global recognition to the region and provides a platform to many students to showcase their talents on a nationwide level," said Labanu K Konwar, assistant registrar and head of public relations at IIT-Guwahati in a news conference here on Monday.Eminent personalities from diverse fields, like Manfred Krammer (HoD, Experimental Physics, CERN ), Marlon West (VFX Supervisor, Walt Disney) and Trevor Bull (CEO and MD, Aviva India), will attend Techniche this year to deliver lectures as a part of an industrial conclave.Convener of Techniche 2018, Purvish Shah, said, "The event will bring together the most technically proficient people from around the world. Techniche is all about showcasing your potential and respecting your opponent."The organizers of Techniche have also taken steps for the social development of the places around IIT-Guwahati by organizing a free health check-up camp, installing streetlights and educating children in the surrounding areas. They added that the 10th edition of the Guwahati half-marathon will be held on the theme of "Run for Digital India". The half-marathon will start from the Bhogeswari Phukanani Indoor Stadium in Dispur on August 26.
