PM Modi to open Sikkim airport

GANGTOK: PM Narendra Modi will visit Sikkim on September 23 and inaugurate the state's first airport near Pakyong town. Civil aviation secretary R N Choubey will reach Sikkim on Thursday to oversee preparations for the visit. After the inauguration, Modi will address a public meeting at Pakyong, some 30km from Gangtok and return the same day.Sikkim chief secretary A K Shrivastava said the state government had been intimated by the PMO and the Union civil aviation ministry about the visit and airport inauguration. Commercial operations will commence from October first week.
