Locals of Saudarbhita had also requested medical assistance.“Doctors and paramedics from the Army and civil administration provided medical treatment to all the patients at the medical camp and also spread awareness on health issues. Along with medical checkups and consultations, free medicines were also distributed among patients. Nearly 2,400 people, including 416 children, 795 women and 1,189 men benefitted from this camp,” a senior officer said. The opportunity was also utilised by army doctors to educate the masses about prevention of communicable and skin diseases along with other lifestyle diseases affecting them. The camp was also used as an interactive platform where war veteran cell and grievances cell were established for ex-servicemen from the area. Dental check-ups were also carried out by dentists along with health check-ups by certified doctors."The Army has been regularly organising such medical camps in inaccessible areas of Baksa districts, where the majority of the population that attends the camps belong to BPL families. They have limited access to medical facilities in their near vicinity. The continuous and relentless efforts of the Indian Army towards the conduct of such camps have been greatly appreciated by the public. It was a notable action to reach out to the poor and needy people and provide them with health care," the officer added.
