NGO plans books for tea tribe children

GUWAHATI: A leading NGO, in collaboration with the Unicef , is planning to develop illustrated storybooks in Assamese.NGO Anwesha and Unicef will develop ten illustrated books through workshops involving educators and authors from the tea garden communities. The main objective is to develop reading among children and promote education among the tea tribes.Anwesha president Paresh Malakar said, "Lack of quality education remains an area of concern for economically disadvantaged and marginalized communities, especially among the children of tea garden communities." The preparatory workshop will be held from September 20 to 22 in the NGO's office.
