Sonapur man hacks daughter-in-law

GUWAHATI: A 70-year-old man, identified as Bidur Bharali, allegedly hacked his daughter-in-law, Nirmali Bharali (38), with a machete on Saturday night. "Though police have not been able to question the victim yet, the accused has revealed that he committed the crime in the heat of an argument. Police have slapped charges of attempt to murder on the accused. The machete has been seized and he has been sent to judicial custody. She suffered grievous injuries on her head, hand and shoulder.

GUWAHATI: A 70-year-old man, identified as Bidur Bharali, allegedly hacked his daughter-in-law, Nirmali Bharali (38), with a machete on Saturday night. The incident happened at Belpila Gumoriya pathar area of Sonapur, on the outskirts of the city, near the Meghalaya border.The victim is reportedly battling for her life at Gauhati Medical College Hospital, while Bharali has been arrested by Sonapur Police.Police sources said, "The accused hacked her with a machete. She suffered grievous injuries on her head, hand and shoulder. The machete has been seized and he has been sent to judicial custody."Though police have not been able to question the victim yet, the accused has revealed that he committed the crime in the heat of an argument. Police have slapped charges of attempt to murder on the accused.
