GUWAHATI: At least four persons were killed in separate road mishaps in the state on Friday. While one Purneshwar Ray was killed in a hit-and-run incident in the Golokganj area of lower Assam’s Dhubri district, three others died on the spot after an accident at Rongjuli in Goalpara district.In the Rongjuli accident, the driver of a bus and a passenger were killed at the site of the accident on National Highway-37 at Baniapara under Dhupdhora police station area. Another passenger succumbed to his injuries in hospital. Police said, “They were on an SUV which collided head-on with a night super bus in the early hours of Friday. Four others were injured in the accident and they were rushed to a hospital.”Locals immediately alerted the police after the accident. The deceased were identified as Chandra Kanta Thandal (24), Jyotish Rabha (25) and Charan Adhikari (25)In Golokganj, Ray’s body was found by local residents.There has been a rise in cases of accidents across the state in recent times.Last week, at least seven persons died in road accidents in the state. While five died after a mishap in Zirikinding area of West Karbi Anglong district, two others died here in the city.
