GUWAHATI: Assam Police have arrested one Binod Boro in connection to the blast in the Kamakhya-Dekargaon Intercity Express on December 1.The accused, Boro, who was arrested in an extortion case of Goreswar in Baksa district , has reportedly admitted to his involvement in the 'low-intensity' explosion inside the moving train that injured four people.Last week, police in Baksa arrested Boro following the recovery of a crude bomb and an extortion note from the backyard of one Kailash Boro in the area on December 5. He allegedly interchanged the letters of National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB) and served the extortion note in the name of an outfit called BFDN.During the investigation, police have found that the bomb found at Kailash Boro's house was similar to the one which exploded in the train. Immediately, the government railway police (GRP) was alerted and police began interrogating him.Udalguri superintendent of police (SP) Rajveer Singh said, "He had made three bombs. One he exploded as a part of a test, the second one he planted in the train and the third one was kept at Kailash's house."Preliminary probe revealed that Boro doesn't belong to any outfit group. He had made those bombs by using splinters and particles of chemicals usually used in making firecrackers. While the GRP sleuths earlier found a battery from the spot, passengers of the train had claimed that they smelt of kerosene too. Forensic test of the railway compartment was also conducted later. A team of GRP officials would reach Udalguri on Monday for further interrogation.Though police initially suspected that the explosion was a possible strike by some militant outfit to create panic before the state's panchayat polls, Paresh Baruah-led Ulfa (Independent) had denied its involvement.
