He, however, added that the percentage of reservation to be earmarked for the six communities after getting ST status, quota of existing ST community in BTC in future, steps for amending the laws in tribal councils of the state and other requisite measures to be taken on the part of the Assam government have to be completed early so that the bill can get ascent in both houses of Parliament soon.BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary, after meeting the home minister, said a cabinet sub-committee will be constituted in Assam soon to resolve issues of conflicting interests between tribal communities already enjoying ST status and those to be brought under the ST fold. The Coordination Committee of Tribal Organizations of Assam (CCTOA) on Friday called a statewide bandh to protest against the bill brought by the Centre to grant ST status to the six communities of the state.
