Assam deports 21 Bangla nationals

Earlier on October 13, 2016, 10 Bangladeshi detainees were deported back to their country. SILCHAR: A total of 21 Bangladeshi nationals, including two women, who were in detention over the last two to four years, were deported to their country on Saturday. After this, on January 22, 2017, 17 Bangladeshi nationals, including two women, were deported. He added that the detainees were taken out of their camp in Silchar on Saturday and escorted to Karimganj. At 1pm, they were deported to Bangladesh through the Sutarkadi land border immigration check-post.

SILCHAR: A total of 21 Bangladeshi nationals, including two women, who were in detention over the last two to four years, were deported to their country on Saturday. All of them have been in Silchar Central Jail after they were caught in Karimganj and Cachar for entering India without valid documents.Among those deported on Saturday, Liton Kanto Das, a resident of Kishorganj in Bangladesh, is a Hindu while the rest are Muslims. They are residents of Sylhet, Tangail, Gopalganj, Rangpur and Kishorganj districts of Bangladesh. Six of them were caught in Cachar and 15 in Karimganj. All the detainees had been tried in a local court and sentenced to jail terms. However, in the absence of any diplomatic procedure to repatriate them, they were kept in a detention camp in the Silchar Central Jail even after their sentences were over.Karimganj SP Gaurav Upadhyay said the deportation was carried out following approval from the MHA. He added that the detainees were taken out of their camp in Silchar on Saturday and escorted to Karimganj. At 1pm, they were deported to Bangladesh through the Sutarkadi land border immigration check-post. At zero point on the international border, BSF personnel handed them over to the Bangladesh Border Guard and other officials of the Sylhet division of Bangladesh.One of the detainees, Ramjan Ali, said he entered India without valid documents in 2017 and went to Ajmer as a devotee. When he was returning to Bangladesh, police nabbed him from the Patharkandi locality of Karimganj district. Earlier on October 13, 2016, 10 Bangladeshi detainees were deported back to their country. After this, on January 22, 2017, 17 Bangladeshi nationals, including two women, were deported.
