Ex-CM holds 'Independent Mizoram' placard

GUWAHATI: Former Mizoram CM and Congress leader Lal Thanhawla was on Tuesday spotted holding a banner seeking an 'Independent Mizoram' at a rally in Aizawl against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill. The Mizoram unit of Congress, however, quickly explained that he was only holding the placard that was brought by another protester. Spokesperson of Congress's Mizoram unit Lallian Chhunga said, "He just happened to keep his hand on a banner carried by a protester." 'Hello, Independent Republic of Mizoram', the banner said.
