"It is our commitment - we will not allow Assam to become another Kashmir. "The Narendra Modi government never compromises on the country's security. The Pulwama attack was an act of cowardice by Pakistan. Basumatari was one of 40 CRPF jawans martyred in the Pulwama attack. Sacrifices by jawans like Assam's Maneswar Basumatari will not be in vain," Shah said.

GUWAHATI: BJP president Amit Shah on Sunday said Assam will not be allowed to turn into "another Kashmir" and that the sacrifices by CRPF jawans in the Pulwama attack will not be in vain.Addressing a Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha rally at Lakhimpur, about 400 km from here, Shah said only Prime Minister Narendra Modi has the political will to respond to such attacks "through both diplomatic and military channels"."It is our commitment - we will not allow Assam to become another Kashmir. If required, we are ready to repeat the process of updating the National Register of Citizens (NRC) to detect infiltrators and deport them," Shah said. With this, Shah made two promises - that only the saffron party could ensure the country's security and that it would not allow "demographic shifts" to alter national identity."The Narendra Modi government never compromises on the country's security. The Pulwama attack was an act of cowardice by Pakistan. Sacrifices by jawans like Assam's Maneswar Basumatari will not be in vain," Shah said. Basumatari was one of 40 CRPF jawans martyred in the Pulwama attack. "Be it Kashmir or the northeast, our government is determined to uproot terrorism because at the Centre, we have the Narendra Modi government, not a Congress government ... Modi has all the answers to all such acts of cowardice," he added.Training guns on its former Assam ally Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), Shah said, "We expedited the NRC update process, started the process of granting ST status to six communities and decided to implement Clause 6 of Assam Accord for giving constitutional safeguards to the Assamese people. Now tell me - what did AGP, during its 10 years in power, do to implement the Accord?" He added, "What BJP is doing ... both Congress and AGP failed to do despite their long tenures."
