GUWAHATI: The death toll in country-made liquor tragedy in two districts of Assam has increased to 93 till Saturday morning. We are pulling in teams of doctors from other medical colleges in Dibrugarh, Tezpur and Guwahati to assist the hospitals in Golaghat and Jorhat,” Sarma said.Police have so far arrested two persons, who were selling the liquor in tea garden areas in Jorhat district’s Borholla area.Majority of the affected persons are tea garden workers of Salmara tea garden in Golaghat district bordering Nagaland. Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited hospitals in Jorhat and Golaghat districts where over 200 other people who also consumed the spurious liquor are being treated and said that the numbers are raising fast.According to health department reports from Swahid Kushal Konwar Civil Hospital in Golaghat and Jorhat Medical College and Hospital where the people are being treated, 70 from Golaghat district and 23 from Jorhat district have died till now.“Before I left Guwahati yesterday the death toll was 59 and when I arrived here at Jorhat, the number has increased greatly.
