Guwahati: In his affidavit filed on the last day of nominations, Union minister Kiren Rijiju , up for re-election from the Arunachal West Lok Sabha seat, claims he does not own any vehicle. This, despite liquidating a car loan of Rs 4.75 lakh in his name when he filed his last affidavit in 2014.The three vehicles he had declared in his last affidavit, two of which were in his wife’s name, no longer find a mention in his new affidavit. Rijiju had declared no income and no Income Tax returns for either himself or his wife last time. This time, he has announced an annual income of Rs 6,12,000. His wife’s income has been declared as Rs 12,03,467.The value of his movable assets has gone up in the past five years — from Rs 46.55 lakh to Rs 56.48 lakh. The value of his wife’s movable assets, meanwhile, has gone down — from Rs 68.32 lakh to Rs 40.89 lakh.There has been an exponential jump in the immovable assets owned by him — from Rs 9.5 lakh in 2014 to Rs 49 lakh now. He has declared that he has acquired assets worth Rs 25 lakh while the remaining assets worth Rs 24 lakh have been inherited.Rijiju completed his graduation from Hansraj College in 1995 and got his law degree from Delhi University in 1998.
