Agartala: BJP national president Amit Shah is scheduled to hold a roadshow for West Tripura Lok Sabha candidate Pratima Bhowmik here on Thursday evening. He will return next morning after offering puja at the Mata Tripureswari temple, party sources said.Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also scheduled to hold a rally on April 6 next at Udaipur seeking votes for the BJP candidates of the state. According to party insiders, both Modi and Shah may come again for campaigning for the April 18 election to the East Tripura parliamentary constituency. The visit of Shah is significant as BJP’s ally in the Tripura government, IPFT, has entered the fray in both the Lok Sabha seats of the state separately. Moreover, the involvement of a few ministers and MLAs, who had joined BJP before the election from Congress, was almost nil in the poll campaign.Sources said the presence of health minister Sudip Roy Barman, who was made the incharge of West Tripura constituency poll management committee, was alomst nil in the campaigning. Rather, he has been attending blood donation camps in the state when poll fever gripped the country. Similarly, food, civil supplies and sports minister Monoj Kanti Deb and a number of MLAs, who had came from Congress, were also found to be not active in the poll process.Health minister Roy Barman, a popular leader among anti-Left parties, was allegedly sidelined by the BJP state leadership which accused him of opposing the chief minister and a few decisions of the party. The party has reportedly communicated to him to be dropped from the state cabinet afer the general election. The reported move made Roy Barman hostile and became inactive.“The BJP leaders slapped a series of wild allegations on him, despite he being the most successful minister in the government in the past one year. They suspected him as a Congressman without any reason. He was humiliated several times by the chief minister and recently by the CM’s principal secretary Kumar Alok. Both the party and the chief minister rather stood with the officer and further insulted him,” a close aide of Roy Barman said adding that BJP top leaders were apprised of all these happenings. On the other, state revenue minister IPFT’s N C Debbarma has submitted nomination for the East Tripura reserved constituency, while chief of its youth wing Shukla Charan Noatia is fighting for West Tripura seat, accusing BJP of not leaving the East Tripura seat to its ally. While BJP accused IPFT of not complying with the alliance principle and fielded its own candidates without discussions, IFPT denied the allegation saying they had been demanding East Tripura seat for long.“We are fighting the election to raise our demand of separate state (Tipraland) in Parliament. Unless the issue is being taken up in Parliament, there is hardly any chance to get a reasonable solution. For last many years, we have been pushing our demands at every level but yielded nothing. Only option left for us is to get our representatives in Parliament and raise the issue. There is no misunderstanding with BJP,” N C Debbarma said.
