NDRF Rescues More Than 4500 People From Flood Affected Areas

4500 people have been rescued from the flood-affected areas in Baksa district, Morigaon, Golaghat, Kamrup (Rural) Assam from July 11 to 16, 2019. Fifteen teams of the NDRF, comprising about 380 personnel, have been deployed to tackle the flood situation in Assam. “The NDRF teams have evacuated more than 4500 people in the District Morigaon, Golaghat, Baksa, Kamrup Rural & Barpeta Assam so far, relief and rescue operation is continuing,” said Shri R S Gill, Officiating Commandant, 1st Battalion NDRF. All the 4500 people have been evacuated to safer places in view of the water logging situation in many areas. At present 15 teams of NDRF with 38 deep divers, 48 IRB boats and all other life saving aids are deployed in the flood affected areas.

GUWAHATI: The incessant rainfall since the last week in Assam, with rising water level of river Aie, Dhasiri, Puthimari, Beki, Barak, Katakhal, Kushiyara, Kopili & Brahmaputra has created flood in 30 districts of Assam. This unexpected flood has disturbed the life of locals. 4500 people have been rescued from the flood-affected areas in Baksa district, Morigaon, Golaghat, Kamrup (Rural) Assam from July 11 to 16, 2019. According to a press release, the flood situation in District Baksa, Morigaon, Kamrup (Rural), Golaghat & Barpeta Assam initiated with the rain-fed Aie, Puthimari, Brahmaputra, Dhansiri River, inundating areas rendering many homeless and damaging roads and crops. All the 4500 people have been evacuated to safer places in view of the water logging situation in many areas. Besides teams are also assisting district administration in distribution of relief material inundated areas. 15 rescue teams have been positioned in the districts of Bongaigaon, Barpeta, Baksa, Guwahati, Silchar, Jorhat, Golaghat & Morigaon in view of the flood. A 24-hours NDRF control room in Guwahati is closely monitoring the situation and in touch with other agencies with regard to the developing situation in the state.
