Subhakansi Trading Cooperative Society Ltd Gives Away Women Awards

STAFF REPORTERGUWAHATI: Subhakansi Trading Cooperative Society Ltd has conferred Barsha Shrestha Mahiyashi Award on the women who have empowered themselves in the field of culture, literature and journalism as well as in social, cultural and Industrial aspects. The awards were conferred at a workshop organized at the Guwahati Press Club. Pushpanjalee Sivom Sarma on women empowerment and self-reliance, Purabi Rabha on women empowerment through physical education, Dimpi Das on cultural and economic empowerment of women took part in the programme as resource persons. Sarma said: “Women empowerment doesn't only mean to develop women economically and politically, rather it should be the idea of empowering oneself as a person”. Along with giving away awards to the self-empowered women, the cover page of Kamal Kumar's novel Mojebai was also released.

The awardees include senior journalist Sanghamitra Sharma Baruah, Anjumoni Bordoloi, Geetashree Talukdar, Birangana Sabitri Bai Award winner Bishmita Likhok, Dr. Geetali Saikia, RJ Sujita, Aailung Lahon Bora and many others. The awards were conferred at a workshop organized at the Guwahati Press Club.
