Food Safety Department Slapped 28 Restaurants With Closure Notice In 13 days

STAFF REPORTERGUWAHATI: In the past 13 days, the Food Safety Department has closed down 28 hotels and restaurants for not complying with safety norms. Senior officer of the Food Safety Kamrup (M), Tarun Das informed that upon investigation, the work places were found to be unhygienic and unsanitary. Moreover, even the licenses of some of the eateries were missing. He further stated that the investigation will continue in the future to ensure safety of health of the city residents. STAFF REPORTER GUWAHATI: In the past 13 days, the Food Safety Department has closed down 28 hotels and restaurants for not complying with safety norms. The list of hotels slapped with closure notice included Dichang hotel, GAMS Delicacy, Mandakini hotel, Payal hotel and Ashirbad hotel in Ganeshguri, hotel City Heart in Rehabari, Maa Kali hotel, Joyashree hotel and Shah hotel in Bharalamukh, New City Dhaba, All The Time Restaurant, and Hotel City Line Restaurant, Commerce J14, Sikha Fast Food, Kanchan D Corner, Krishna Fast Food, New Momo Ghar, Roll Corner, Red Pepper and Honeys Food Store, among others under section 32 of Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006. Senior officer of the Food Safety Kamrup (M), Tarun Das informed that upon investigation, the work places were found to be unhygienic and unsanitary. Most lacked adequate space for storage, were poorly lighted and ventilated, floor and wall dirty, equipments, vessels and containers in insanitary condition, no provision for proper drainage, use of expired spices, etc. Moreover, even the licenses of some of the eateries were missing. He further stated that the investigation will continue in the future to ensure safety of health of the city residents.
