Apparently, Himanta Biswa Sarma promised many times for a permanent appointment, but in vain. Because of the sacrifice of many of our SPO soldiers, finally, the train service restarted through the BG line of Silchar, that was closed because of the critical situation created by terrorist organizations DHD(J) and NSCN. Most of the martyrs' families haven't received a single rupee. So, we appeal the government to take initiatives to recognize the martyrs and appoint us permanently as soon as possible. Otherwise we will have to stage extreme remonstration.

STAFF REPORTER GUWAHATI: Being neglected for the past seven years over demands including permanent appointment and providing proper recognition to the martyrs, All Assam Special Police Officer Welfare Association (AASPOWA) throws a hint that if their demands are not met, they will stage extreme protests against the government. Addressing the media on Friday at Guwahati Press Club, AASPOWA secretary Prahlad Das said, “Even after appealing many times to meet Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, we have been neglected and the CM never showed any interest to meet us. But the SPO soldiers didnt get permanently appointed even after dealing with the terrorists in sensitive areas like Dima Hasao.” Das further said, “We have lost many of our colleagues including Munindra Baglari, Raju Pator, Lalit Borgohain and many others and also one of our SPO soldier Biraj Das, who has been living with a bullet in his spine. Most of the martyrs families havent received a single rupee. So, we appeal the government to take initiatives to recognize the martyrs and appoint us permanently as soon as possible. Otherwise we will have to stage extreme remonstration. We are losing our patience and have suffered enough. Besides, we know how the inner system works, so we warn the government to take necessary actions or be prepared to face any kind of situation.” Also Read: No Financial Aid provided to S.P.Os who died while providing service in Dima Hasao: AASPOWA Also Watch: 68 packets of suspected Lali Gur worth Rs 1 Lakh seized in Naharkatia
