Addressing the media here in the city on Friday, ABYCP president Narendra Prakash Chauhan said, “More than 15000 peoples name from our Hindi-speaking community didnt come in the final NRC. Our community is deeply rooted with this land since generations. Our forefathers came here when Dr Rajendra Prashad was the president. So, its shameful that now weve to visit the Foreigners Tribunal to prove our identity.” Chauhan further said, “Even after informing home minister Rajnath Singh about the negligence showed towards the Hindi spoken people in the NRC service centers and cancelling their documents for not being able to read the documents written in Hindi, thousands of names did not make the final list. Despite providing all the necessary documents, in Udalguri district, a total 4000 Hindi speaking peoples names were left out from the final draft.” “We demand the NRC authorities to include names of excluded Hindi speaking people in the NRC list without any condition. Weve the documents with us, if they want to verify, then they can do so, but, we refuse to go to the Foreigners Tribunal.” said Chauhan.
