BJP takes Initiative to Generate Awareness on Scrapping of Article 370

STAFF REPORTER GUWAHATI: To spread public awareness about why Article 370 and 35 (A) had to be withdrawn from Jammu and Kashmir, the BJP has taken the initiative to organize a campaign Jana Jagaran Jana Sampark Abhiyan in 14 Lok Sabha seats and 39 district committees headquarters after September 18. It is worth mentioning that in the presence of the Union Minister of State for DoNER (Development of the North Eastern Region) Jitendra Singh, Ladakh MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal and BJP spokesperson and MP Minakshi Lekhi, a workshop for the north-eastern zone as part of the one-nation one-constitution campaign was held on September 4 at Guwahati, where discussion about Centres motive to not scrap Article 371 now in force in some States in the Northeast, and rather apply the Northeast development model in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The enrollment of the active membership drive will continue till September 18, after which, from the very next day, the organizational election of the party will launched. Talking to The sentinel, BJPs vice president Vijay Kumar Gupta said, “The enrollment programme for primary members, which started from July 6 and continued till August 18, reached its crescendo with the party wooing people to join. Initially, there were 22 lakh members which have now increased to 20 lakh more, making it a total of 42 lakh. Also, there were 32 thousand active members and which the party has a target of escalating to 70 thousand. Infact, till the present date, the party has already enrolled 40 thousand members.” Gupta informed that there are three conditions for the enrollment of active membership, which includes three years primary membership, active participation in the party planning for at least a year or two, and most importantly, assisting in the participation of 25 new members to the party. The membership drive in-charge of Assam, Vijay Kumar Gupta further said, “After the conclusion of the active membership enrollment drive, the partys organizational election will start. The booth level elections will begin from September 19 in 26 thousand booths, the mandal elections on October and the district level elections on November. On December, the formation of State BJPs New Committee will be arranged, however, only active members can be a part of the committee.
