Republic Day celebrations Kamrup M Administration makes elaborate arrangements

STAFF REPORTERGUWAHATI: The Kamrup (Metropolitan) district administration has made elaborate arrangements to celebrate the country's 71st Republic Day at the playground of College of Veterinary Science, Khanapara on January 26. Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu told reporters here on Tuesday that the Republic Day parade would be led by the Assam Rifles along with scouts, guides and NCC on the ground. The best school for the parade will be selected and awarded during the celebrations, he said. Pegu said the inspectors of schools and the directorate of Elementary Education have already asked to conduct quiz and debate competitions among students in schools under Kamrup Metro district on the occasion of the Republic Day. He said the Assam Police and other para-military forces will also join the parade. The best school for the parade will be selected and awarded during the celebrations, he said. Pegu said the inspectors of schools and the directorate of Elementary Education have already asked to conduct quiz and debate competitions among students in schools under Kamrup Metro district on the occasion of the Republic Day. He said the winners of these competitions will be awarded during the R-Day celebrations at Khanapara. The DC said besides CCTVs and adequate lighting arrangements a three-tier security blanket has already been rolled out at the Veterinary College ground for smooth celebration of the R-Day. The State Chief Secretary Sanjay Krishna will inspect the ground on Wednesday along with other top officials. Pegu said the administration has invited several senior citizens including a few centurions and specially-abled persons to enjoy the R-Day programmes at Khanapara.
