Karbi organizations demonstrate in front of Raj Bhawan in Guwahati

STAFF REPORTERGUWAHATI: The Amri Karbi Organization along with several other Karbi organizations on Saturday staged a demonstration in front of the Raj Bhawan with a slew of demands.
The organizations have submitted a joint memorandum to the Governor of Assam Jagdish Mukhi to grant Schedule Tribe (H) status to Amri Karbis as per Article 342.
The organizations also demand an autonomous district “Amri Longri” with an autonomous council under Sixth Schedule for the Amri Karbi tribe.
Along with that they also seek the elimination of the Tiwa Autonomous Council (TAC) constituencies from the Dimoria area and also the cancellation of the CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act).
