COVID 19 outbreak Mass gatherings during Vyapar Bandh in Guwahati

STAFF REPORTERGUWAHATI: Most of the business establishments in the city were shut down on Monday in response to the Vyapar Bandh, appealed by Assam Chamber of Commerce; however, a different picture was witnessed in Fancy Bazar Market Complex, Bamunimaidan market and in several other market places.
Despite the Government's continuous appeal to avoid mass gathering in view of COVID-19 outbreak, people thronged at market places to fill their stocks of essential goods.
Talking to The Sentinel, Nekib Imam Saikia, assistant secretary of Sadou Guwahati Byobosayee Santha (SGBS) said, “The administration should be tightened.
There is still no concern among the people and most of the people are taking the issue of COVID-19 very lightly.
