State Food Civil Supplies to sell vegetables at seven locations in Guwahati from today

Staff ReporterGUWAHATI: From Friday the State Food and Civil Supplies and Consumers' Affairs (FCS&CA) department is going to sell vegetables at seven locations in Guwahati under the strict supervision of an officer each from the F&CS and the Department of Metrology. The seven locations are Sixth Mile with vehicle number (AS18AC2186), Ulubari (AS18AC2244), Ganeshguri (AS18C8465), Fancy Bazar (AS18AC1179), Narengi (AS18C9306), Maligaon (AS19C4794) and Silpukhuri (As19C9679). All these should be done by keeping the one metre distance between customers and salesmen, between salesmen and salesmen, and between customers and customers. In a release issued to the media on Thursday, the State government has instructed that the essential items like medicines, grocery items, fruits, vegetables and milk are made accessible to the people. Hence, it is necessary that grocery shops, chemist shops, fruit and vegetable shops, milk sellers are allowed to work by keeping the shops open for the benefit of the people.

Staff Reporter GUWAHATI: From Friday the State Food and Civil Supplies and Consumers Affairs (FCS&CA) department is going to sell vegetables at seven locations in Guwahati under the strict supervision of an officer each from the F&CS and the Department of Metrology. Vegetables will be handed over to the consumers directly from the vehicles, without unloading them. The seven locations are Sixth Mile with vehicle number (AS18AC2186), Ulubari (AS18AC2244), Ganeshguri (AS18C8465), Fancy Bazar (AS18AC1179), Narengi (AS18C9306), Maligaon (AS19C4794) and Silpukhuri (As19C9679). The sales will be in accordance with COVID-19 guidelines. The consumers will have to stand in queue maintaining one metre apart. In sync with the guidelines issued by the Government of India and the Government of Assam, the Kamrup (M) district administration has also issued some guidelines for the sales of grocery items as well in the district. According to the guidelines, all wholesale shops can do business from 8 am to 4 pm and retail outlets from 9 am to 6 pm, and the shops should not allow more than five customers to enter. All these should be done by keeping the one metre distance between customers and salesmen, between salesmen and salesmen, and between customers and customers. The retailers can sell only groceries. Shopping malls in the city can also sell only groceries. In view of this, it is to be ensured that no congregation of people takes place in the State; timing of operation for wholesalers of the above mentioned items can be from 8 am to 4 pm and for retailers from 8 am to 7 pm. Social distancing is to be ensured in each establishment with proper sanitization facility, the release said.
