Guwahati Kamrup Metro Administration to provide free Doorstep ration supply for poor

STAFF REPORTERGUWAHATI: The Guwahati Kamrup Metro Administration will provide free ration to the daily wage earners at their doorsteps on Tuesday in view of the nationwide lockdown to check the spread of coronavirus,Each needy person will get ration for at least seven days. A meeting was held in this regard at the Kamrup Metro District Office, under the presidentship of DC Biswajit Pegu. He asked the Guwahati Revenue Circle and Dispur Revenue Circle officers to prepare a list of the number of people in their respected areas that can be benefitted under the programme. DC advised the circle officers to get assistance from NGOs, if needed. The preparation and packaging of the ration will be done by the District Food and Civil Supply Department.

The initiative was taken under the direction of the State government and the migrant workers will also be included in the programme. A meeting was held in this regard at the Kamrup Metro District Office, under the presidentship of DC Biswajit Pegu. He asked the Guwahati Revenue Circle and Dispur Revenue Circle officers to prepare a list of the number of people in their respected areas that can be benefitted under the programme. The distribution will be done according to the beneficiary list made by the circle officers and all the issued preventive measures will be followed during the distribution programme. DC advised the circle officers to get assistance from NGOs, if needed. The preparation and packaging of the ration will be done by the District Food and Civil Supply Department. Kamrup Metro District Development Commissioner Atul Kumar Sarma, Additional DCs Ratul Pathak, Manoj Sikariya, Chinmoy Nath, Bipul Kumar Das, Sharmistha Bora and Munindra Bordoloi, Revenue Circle and Food and Civil Supply officers of the district were present.
