EC issues notice to BJP`s Himanta Biswa Sarma for threatening Congress Ally

The Election Commission (EC) has issued a show-cause notice to BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma for allegedly making threatening comments against Hagrama Mohilary, a Congress ally and Chairman of BPF (Bodoland People`s Front).

Voting is going on in the 39 seats of the second phase of the total 126 assembly seats in Assam. Meanwhile, the Election Commission has sent a notice to Minister of State and BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma. The Election Commission has asked Hemant Biswa Sarma to reply by 5 pm on April 2.

The Election Commission has sent a notice to Himanta Biswa Sharma based on a complaint received by Congress. The Congress party has alleged that Himanta Biswa Sarma had threatened their colleague and the chairman of (BPF) Bodoland People`s Front from an open platform that he would get the action taken against him by the central agency NIA (which works under the administrative control of the central government i.e BJP)

According to the Election Commission, Assam has recorded 48.26 per cent polling till 1:30 pm in the second phase of the assembly elections. Of the 39 seats in the state where 345 candidates, including 26 women, are in the fray.
