In a fresh dent on the Election Commission`s credibility, the shocking news of 171 votes being cast in a polling booth that has only 91 voters has come to light. The Election commission faced strong criticism for its poor management of EVMs last week when an EVM was found in a BJP leader`s car.

The stationed election officials were on their tenterhooks as the news came out. According to the reports, five officers have been suspended.

During the second phase of polling in Assam, a shocking incident has come to light from a polling station in the Dima Hasao district. There are only 90 voters at this polling booth while 171 votes were cast during the voting here. This polling station comes in Haflong Assembly. Five polling officers have been suspended after the news of this centre, which recorded a voting percentage of 74 per cent, was revealed. At the same time, the commission is considering a re-polling here.

As per the reports, The head of the village refused to accept the commission`s voter list, while he brought his own list under which the villagers voted. Surprisingly, the polling officers in the election work accepted this list of the chief and why no one paid any attention to it.
